Whether you’re looking for a classic headshot for your résumé or website bio, something more contemporary to land that gig you’re auditioning for, or looking to change the world by running for office, I can help you build your unique visual brand with a custom designed portrait session.
Judy Weiser, psychologist and art therapist, said this on the importance of family photos: “It lets children learn who they are and where they fit. When a child sees a family portrait, they say to themselves: ‘These people have me as part of what they are, that’s why I belong here. This is where I come from.’” What better reason to make some family portraits together?
Katy has been our child & family photographer for years. She is experienced and well-rounded, but I’d have to say her greatest strength is taking your creative vision, no matter how vague, and turning it into something better than you could have ever imagined. I am always so happy with her work and the beautiful memories she captures.
We truly enjoyed our experience with Katy at Icarus Photography. Not only did she take beautiful photos of our family that we will treasure forever, she did a great job of creating a relaxed and natural atmosphere for my husband, two young sons, and myself. Katy is flexible and especially patient and kind in working with children. We are looking forward to our next photo shoot!
Senior portraits are a uniquely American tradition dating back to the late 1800s. Sure, they’ve evolved into less formality and way more fun, but high school senior portraits still serve the purpose of documenting a teenager as they transition into adulthood, and these images often become treasured family heirlooms. My senior sessions have a focus on celebration. Not only will we make those timeless portraits the grandparents will love, but we’ll also have fun by incorporating colorful smoke emitters, bubbles, sparklers or a favorite hobby, talent or activity.
I’m continually floored by my clients’ beautiful babies coming back to me as big kids. But you know what? That childhood magic is always there. You don’t need a special occasion to plan a milestone session — every moment watching our kiddos grow up is so very special and worth documenting.
Something I hear often from clients upon delivering their galleries is their surprised wonder at how much their baby has changed in just the few weeks since their portrait session. It’s so very important to document these milestones over that first year and beyond, as we often don’t realize how fleeting they are until it’s too late!
Congratulations on your new addition! Newborn portrait sessions are best done within 5-14 days of baby’s birth. A newborn session will last anywhere between 2-4 hours, as I plan for many breaks to allow for feeding and snuggling baby to ensure they are comfortable and sleepy. Upon booking, you will receive my Newborn Prep Guide and Family Clothing Guide to help you prepare for a successful session. You will have full access to my curated collection of props, wraps and accessories for baby, as well as a post-partum friendly client closet of beautiful gowns for new moms. Parent and sibling portraits are included in your session.
Spaces are limited and fill early, as I can only accommodate a handful of due dates per month. I recommend booking during your second trimester, so we have plenty of time to meet for our design and planning consultation.
Maternity/pregnancy photography is one of the best ways to commemorate and celebrate the amazing power of the female body. These are best scheduled between approximately 30-34 weeks, to ensure mama is still somewhat comfortable while showing off that beautiful bump! All maternity clients gain access to my client closet that can dress bodies from size XS-3XL.
